Walk from Hardwick Park to Bishop Middleham

This walk is 3 hours. Come with us to visit the area that the Bright Water Landscape Programme will be restoring as a wetland nature reserve -  Bishop's Fen.  This walk will take you along a bridleway through farmland down to a picturesque spot close to the River Skerne. Bright Water Walks – Great Aycliffe Way

Join us for a 6 mile walk around Newton Aycliffe, taking in West Park lakes. The meeting point is the car park of the Oakleaf sports complex - look out for the guide wearing a Bright Water high-vis jacket.  Access to toilets and refreshments will be available before and after the walk. Bright Water Walks – Barmpton and Ketton

Bright Water Walks – Historic Darlington

Come and discover historic Darlington with us. On this walk you will see some of the highlights of Darlington’s industrial heritage including  North Road Station, the Skerne Railway bridge and the house of Edward Pease, the great Quaker entrepreneur sometimes called "the Father of the Railways". Ferryhill Carrs

This walk will take a tour of Ferryhill Carrs Nature Reserve.  Currently this is the only part of the Bright Water area that provides a visual reminder of the wetland landscape that covered a vast part of our area until entrepreneurial Victorian farmers drained its marshes and fens less than 200 years ago.  Learn about the history of the site, part of which is now a SSSI, and find out more about our plans to improve its accessibility and its special 'carrland' habitat.  Meeting point…

Come on a journey with us to visit the site of the proposed Bishops Fen Nature Reserve.
